Tour de Kota Tinggi

Did my first overseas riding tour yest to Kota Tinggi. Route was rather straight forward. Took a boat from Changi Village to Pengarang (25mins), before heading up to Sg Reggit to meet some malaysian riders.

With the commandos...

Packing our precious bike on the 12-man boat to Pengarang.

Just before reaching Pengarang

Group Photo with the chaps from L&T cycle.

Rode towards Kota Tinggi thereafter (90km). The route there was packed with slopes, tons of them, so much that you don't complain abt "wa, another slope" cos it's just redundant.. haha.. One of our fellow rider counted 42peaks and that's not describing the steepness of each. After this experience of riding throughout with slopes, what are the slopes in Singapore man.. no kick.. lolx..
Along the way to Kota Tinggi. eyeing at our final destination -- Johor Bahru.
Just begun not long.. feeling fresh...
HEHE... still got time to take my own photo..
One of the random pit-stop we had along the way. The sugar cane drink is SUPER sweet lar.. RM2

Lunch at Kota Tinggi with the Malaysian state riders.
After the turning point at Kota Tinggi, we headed back to Johor Bahru. (40Km). The Malaysian state riders were damn fast can. Climbing upslopes at 38km/h as compared to my measly 17-22km/h. haha.. I was chatting with them and realised that they train 3 times a week in this type of terrain. oh my... oh my.. Total distance covered for the trip was 178km in 7hrs 15mins riding time. Thankfully no one met with tyre puncture or accident. Though some of them did meet with stitches and cramps, there was no major casualties and all came back safe.
Personally, I'm glad that I was able to complete the whole trip of 180km. Much physical tolerance and mental concentration was required throughout the trip. The amount of climbs was really draining and taxing for the muscles, have to know how to conserve energy by playing around with the gears, relaxing the legs when going downslopes etc... The mind had to be alert all the way to look out for the traffic and many pot-holes on the road. Totally drained at the end of the ride.. I'm glad that I took part in this trip with my fellow cycling kakis, and it gives me the confidence to finish my Aviva 70.3 90km bike ride. It's all in the mind. =) now it's down to my own training to improve on the timing le. Ganbatte !
