Life's a Journey

What exactly is it?

Life begin 38weeks before you see the light in the delivery room. As a single cell which slows multiplies to form a zygote, which then develops into your organs, beautiful eyes, hands, legs, etc. It all comes together to form a unique you..

Life as a baby was full of challenges.. Taking our First breath in the whole new world.. Learning to adapt to the blazing lights shining upon us. The funny screeching sounds that hurts our little ear drum. Learning to put something down our throat for the first time ever. All these tweeny little things were slowly adapted/learnt by us.

Growing up a bit more as a toddler, it was full of painful experiences.. not knowing how to speak or express ourselves, we could only hope that ppl understand why we are crying.. perhaps we are hungry, we soiled the pampers.. Then we learn a few new vocab.. Saying Poot poot.. mum mum.. pom pom.. Making our description slightly easier.

Soon.. We start to crawl around, rubbing our soft tender skin against the floor.. Trying hard to take our first step and constantly falling down cos we can't get the balance. Trying to pronounce our first word.. Mummy/ Daddy.

Entering the nursery.. Facing so many strangers who are supposed to attend lessons together. That's where our first friends were made. Playing around, having fun, doing a little bit of work. Our social skills start to develop.

Next, education took over the driver control for the next decade.. Primary sch, Secondary sch. Stress every couple of yrs, wondering whether we would make the cut to qualify for the "elite" batch. Streaming, PSLE, Streaming again in Sec 2, 'O' Level. Some proceed on to JC, where we encounter another monster called 'A' Level. Apart from the academic stress that we have, there were CCA pts, good fren, best fren problem, BGR issues, money no enough. Some how or rather, we would be able to iron it out.

Comes this part where a major road divide appears. Some starts to work.. Some proceed to University, by the name of NUS, NTU, SMU, SIM etc. we start to get busy and striving for what we want to achieve in life. Busy with our own things, some fighting hard to get a scroll of toilet roll at the end of their 16yrs study, called qualification/Certificate.

Work life isn't any easier.. That's where Full independence only start to take place... Working our ass off to meet ends meet, hoping not to make any mistake so that the " steel bowl" will not be taken away, making and saving Ka-Ching to fuel our needs. Creating a place where we called home, purchasing things that we proudly called my own.

Career, then marriage.. then family.. A cycle that many ppl goes thru. That's when you start to create the next generation and help create the next zygote. Life reaches the peak around 40plus 50, more or less contented with the lifestyle.. Either you have achieved what you set out to do, or you give up trying to make it any better, taking a slower pace towards life.

Reaching the 6th decade, most would celebrate their " liu shi da shou " signifying you have lived long enough. Towards the last 1 or 2 decade of life, Some learn taiji down at the park. Some play Mahjong with their kakis. Some go " ling ko-pi" with their friends. Some call it just relaxing and enjoying life. Some say just waiting for time to be up.

Average lifespan of 83 yrs old ( In singapore ), most ppl call it a day and say " it's enough.. it's time to rest "

Life and death..

What exactly is it? How do u tell the 2 apart?

It's something that all living things go through. We mourn for the death of our closest ones. But that's part and parcel of life.. We have to learn to accept it. No one knows what exactly it is to die. Some says recarnation, some says u proceed to heaven. or perhaps you simply just disappear, just a tiny part of the whole universe, not mattering much. Who knows?

Why am I saying all these? Cos I've got a uncle who was diagnosed with Cancer barely 2months ago. It begun at the small intestines, but it spread so fast that it infected the liver, gall bladder, stomach.. And everyone knows that once it hits the liver, it's incurable. On Monday, the doc said.. 1 week. Will he last enough over this weekend? No one knows..

Seeing him walking the last part of his life was a very saddening one. Knowing that your own death is imminent can't be beaten by anything in the world. He's so weak now that sitting upright is not possible. Lying down on the bed waiting for it to be up. Taking painkillers is no longer an issue for the doc.. Overdosage? No need to worry.. Just give him whatever that makes him feel better now. Hovering in a semi-conscious state. Don't even know if he recognises us.

Siblings all preparing to do there last little bit for him, settling all the undone things he has. Only to be faced with problems. In come the son, which has not seen him for 20 over yrs, claiming he want to do his part by holding the funeral for him. Really? Trying to do the little bit? If he's really filial, won't need to wait till the funeral to show it. NEVER ever made an attempt to visit him over the yrs, not even when he has been in the hospital for the past 2 months. What is he trying to do? Insisting to hold a Christian funeral when his dad is a taoist, not respecting his will is the worst thing that can be done... For goodness sake.

Is it better to know that you are walking the last few moments of your life... or meeting with an accident that kills you on the spot.. First being able to finish up somethings before you let go, but you need to endure the pain that follows.. second, pain is reduced to the minimal. ( in terms of time wise ), but you leave without saying anything.

Which is better?

doesn't matter.. you can't choose it either.. let nature takes its course ba..

Life is fragile.. treasure it ..
