Family Day

Today is supposed to be Family day, a Singapore movement. All workers are supposed to be given time-off to go back earlier and have an quality dinner with their family. Though it only happens once a year, it still shows effort is made. As a matter of fact, this can't be often, as it'll greatly affect the productivity rate of the company. However, this one off Family Day is a privilege given to all workers. It shouldn't be taken away. Sadly, My dear company, or rather department has to rob us off this privilege and insist that we'll work as per normal. A so called meeting to discuss how to go about doing the issue was held, but apparently, he already had an end in mind, whatever suggestions that came from us doesn't seem to enter his wooden block brain. The issue was that due to the department being a Technical Service department, there will still be a need for people to pick up the phone and arrange for appt for the customers. So the suggestions given was
1. Draw Lot -- ppl refuse.. say unfair... ( crap draw lot still unfair?!? )
2. Volunteer. -- Not enough ppl to volunteer
3. Rotate -- This time round some stay, next time the rest stay. ( NOT fair again, cos only happens once a year.. don't want to wait. )
4. Compensate the time off on another day. -- Manager say he don't have power to do so. ( then what power he has... bloody crap )

All wasn't good due to one reason or another until one smart Alec suggested that all stay together to make it fair. ( another supervisor btw ) and to bond the team together.... ( another crap) busy doing work, what's there to bond when everybody just take their bag and leave when the clock strike 6 o'clock everyday. This already shows there's no team bonding and no effort was made to improve it. Still trying to cover up by saying such things.. And this supposingly hit what the Manager had wanted to say and he immediately say that's a great idea. " what do you guys think? who wants to go back at 4.30 pm ? " Obviously this type of question, who will dare to raise hand. next question asked. " who don't mind staying back together as a team to work until 6pm? " Oh man... for ppl trying hard to fend for their rice bowl, I think this would be their choice. And some ppl actually did raise hand, and they are the ones that are not working TODAY. TMD. spoil the vote. And so our dear Manager Concluded that " since you guys prefer to stay back together, we'll all end at 6pm on Friday instead. This is a TEAM decision. " ..... YEAH right... *clap*clap* for his wonderful inferene.

That's not solving the issue that not everyone can leave, instead its avoiding the problem all together. According to my colleague, he's one that cannot make decision, and all decisions made are SAFE decisions that would save his ass from trouble. Doesnt' fight anything for the department at all. Really wonder how come this type of people can climb up so far. His nick name is office boy. Cos he stays in office whole day... eat lunch in office, always go buy coffee at 3pm. and will shred paper himself. Kinda sad thing to be a manager but nobody likes him and he's ALWAYS alone.

Whatever the issue is, I'm only a temp, don't qualify for the benefits that the company has. And moreover I'm theoritically working for Recruit Express instead. If only I'm a Perm Staff here, perhaps I'll lodge a complain to the workers union and get this manager sorted out. Anyway, my days here are limited.. Hmm.... will end work in 34 more days, 24 more working days. Will just finish up whatever time that's left here and " pai pai bi gu " and leave.
